West Midlands Hydraulics is a mobile hydraulic repair business covering Birmingham, Coventry, the Black Country and the surrounding area. We come to the machine, make the hose up on site and get you working again.
How we are set up, and why it matters to you
We are independent. There is no call centre, no dispatch team and no subcontracting. When you ring, you are talking to the engineer who will be doing the work.
That has two consequences that show up on your invoice and in your day.
The first is price. A nationwide breakdown network takes your details and then finds a local engineer to do the job. You pay the local rate plus the network’s margin. Cutting that layer out is why we come in at around half the cost of a national callout, and it is a structural difference rather than a discount we are choosing to give you.
The second is honesty about timing. Because the person quoting you an arrival time is the person driving, that time is real. If we cannot be with you until the morning, you will be told that on the phone. Knowing you have a nine o’clock repair is far more use than being told someone is coming and then waiting up.
Things we would rather tell you than sell you
We do not charge to come and look. If we attend and cannot complete the repair, there is no bill for the visit.
That is a deliberate choice, because charging for attendance creates a quiet incentive to find something to do once you are there. Not charging means we have no reason to talk up a job, and it means we can say “this cylinder is not worth resealing” or “your pump is fine, it is the suction strainer” without it costing us anything.
The same applies to root causes. When a hose has failed because it was rubbing on a bracket, fitting an identical replacement into the same unprotected run is not a repair, it is a rebooking. We would rather point at the bracket.
What we work on
Mostly plant, agricultural machinery, commercial vehicles and industrial hydraulics. Hose replacement is the majority of it, along with cylinders, pumps, fittings and the inspection work that stops the emergencies happening.
The full list is on the services page, and the sectors we work in most are set out under industries.
The warranty
Every hose and fitting we supply carries a two-year warranty against failure in normal use. It is longer than the industry norm and it is not a marketing gesture. It is a consequence of using properly matched components and crimping them correctly, which is the thing that actually decides how long an assembly lasts. Terms apply, and they are set out on the warranty page.
