Common questions
Do you charge a callout fee if you cannot fix it?
No. If we attend and cannot complete the repair, you are not charged for the visit.
How much does a hydraulic hose repair cost?
It depends on the hose grade, the bore, the fittings and how long the job takes on site. We give you a figure on the phone before setting off. There is a full breakdown of what drives the price in our guide on what a hose repair should cost.
Are you genuinely cheaper than a nationwide callout?
Generally yes, for a structural reason. National networks take your call and subcontract the work to a local engineer, so you pay that engineer plus a margin. We are the engineer, so there is no middle layer.
What does the two-year warranty cover?
The hose and the fittings we supply, against failure in normal use. It excludes abrasion and crush damage, and any hose run outside its rated pressure or temperature. Terms apply.
Do you work nights and weekends?
Yes. Out-of-hours rates are higher and you will be told the figure before we leave, not after we finish.
Which areas do you cover?
The West Midlands conurbation and the area around it. The areas page lists the towns we work in most often. If you are just outside, ring and we will tell you honestly whether we can reach you usefully.
Can you match a hose without a part number?
Almost always. We work from the failed assembly: bore, length, fitting type and orientation. Part numbers are rarely available on older plant and are not how the assembly is built anyway.
Can a burst hose be repaired rather than replaced?
No. A hose that has burst has failed structurally and there is no safe way to restore the reinforcement. The assembly is replaced. The machine-side fitting can often be reused if it is sound.
How long will the repair take?
Once we are on site, a straightforward assembly is usually made up and fitted within the hour. Hoses buried inside a boom take longer, because access is the slow part rather than the hose.
Do you supply hoses without fitting them?
Yes, singly or as a labelled batch for a fleet to keep on the shelf. The warranty then covers the assembly rather than the installation.
Can you work on a machine still under manufacturer warranty?
Yes, though check your own warranty terms. We fit to manufacturer specification and provide paperwork, which is normally what a dealer wants to see.
My ram drifts down under load. Is that the seals?
Not necessarily, and it is worth diagnosing before spending money. It can be the piston seal, but it can equally be a leaking service or check valve. Isolating the cylinder settles it in minutes.
Do you need site induction or permits?
Often, and it is much better handled in advance. Tell us what the site requires when you call so we arrive with the right paperwork and contact rather than queuing at the gate.
How do you take payment?
Please ask when you book, so there are no surprises at the end of the job.
Machine down? We can usually be with you the same day.
Tell us the machine, the hose and where you are. We will tell you honestly whether we can reach you and what it will cost before we set off.
